What a joy to see them recover and bloom in January. Brassavola 'Kiliani Stars'( Little stars x perinni) in the front , has a fresh, rosy floral scent that diffuses far at night. My favorite, since it lacks some of the irritating fragrance undertones of some Brassovola I had grown. It is also the toughest for me, grows and blooms well in SH and even blooms in water culture. Cochleanthes Amazing in the back has strong, sweet, spicy, rosy, aromatic floral fragrance. Succesive flowers for 3 months now. Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Short Sharry' aromatic sweet fragrance , able to waft across several rooms. This small division has recovered fast since it has grown in water culture for 10 years. 5years ago it had multiple spikes. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...r-culture.html Vandofinetia White Crane.is on the left growing fast in SH. I detect some pleasant sweet fragrance notes earlier in the day, but often find the fragrance irritating. Reminds me of Ivory Soap and/or paint remover most of the day. It isn't white either, but "washed out magenta" (nature's favorite color according to an old hybridizer} |
All of them are very nice.

Beautiful

Wow, I'm really intrigued by that Cochleanthes Amazing. And, from your name, it sounds like you grow in a NE window, with just morning light? How much? I may try one of these. Beautiful, all of them!

Blackvine
I took this orchid to my daughter's East facing high-rise apartment in Chicago where it spent a couple of years. Although leaves were puckered with black tips, and flowers did not have the rich even color, the scent was incredible and it kept blooming from both sides whenever a growth matured. The highest light I grew it was East Exposure, Winter N.E., full sun till 1 PM and it likes that too. Essentially, once I cleaned up the root rot and planted it SH style it has been one of easiest to grow and flower. I find he nectar guides fascinating and sometimes use the magnifier to look at them. They are from the flabelliformis parent. http://arcamore.smugmug.com/Orchids/...P1130049-M.jpg The history of this plant is here http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ming-fool.html |
I like them all :)
