Awarded plant. Very vigorous and a nice shape - two active spikes are branching. And just found a third that started. Happier with this one than I thought I'd be.

That is really nice. Great combination of colors.

Quite lovely, though with that clonal name, I was expecting a bright pink. ;)

Very nice! Where did you get that one?

jeremyinsf 01-12-2014 02:21 PM

It's another Orchid Zone phrag. I have quite a few of them now, and more to come soon I hope!

Very nice! I'm just starting to get into slippers. Is the culture for this one similar to my paph hybrids? If so, it might have to go on my wish list!

Lovely flower and great pic, as always. :)

Thank you! I'm enjoying learning with the photos.

Phrags grow somewhat different than Paphs. (Most) Phrags grow very wet, and want less fertilizer. In their native habitat, they grow near running water and even places that flood completely. This means they have a constant source of clean, pure water.

I find them much, much easier to grow than just about anything. You can't really over-water them, and as long as I keep them wet (with pure water) they grow like weeds for me. They like bright light, but I'm able to provide that in my bay windows here in SF, with sheer curtains that block the harsh direct sun that tries to peek through once in a while.

My personal take is that if you like slippers, Phrags can be very rewarding plants.
