Is this a root or spike? I'm thinking it's a root but a spike would be awesome! Attaching the pic cuz I'm on my iPhone ;p

root

Root, definitely. It doesn't have the overlapping folds that a spike would have, and a spike would be growing more vertically (usually)

Yeah, definitely a root.

Root. I once heard someone refer to the tip of a spike as looking like a tiny mitten, and that's helped me a lot to differentiate. Roots are more evenly round and conical at the end. They also tend to be green at the tip and silvery along the rest of the growth, and spikes are mostly green throughout. Nice root though!!

Thanks guys! I'm suprised, I didn't realize that roots would form up high like that, that's good to know, plus the tips about not having overlapping folds and the tip looking like a mitten will help in the future!

Yep root, but that is a good thing too. It will have to grow roots before it grows a spike.
