Paph fairrieanum - 4N?
2 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know where to have a chromosonal count performed?
Paph fairrieanum is my favorite species, so I have about a dozen. I am blooming one right now, which I suspect might be 4N.

Don't know but it is lovely. Both are.

Do you have an access to microscopes? Then you can check the size of stomata guard cells. The size of cells are correlated with nucleus size in many plants (but not always). One person in slippertalk mentioned that it is the case in some Paphs.
I've done chromosome counting (not in orchids), but it is super tedious. Flow-cytometry is the easier way to determine ploidy, and that's what most of us uses. |
Both are nice, but the first one is really good.
Short and small plant with a big flower!!! |
There was a Dutch co that did flow cytometry samples for like $10. Get in touch with your local University.

My favourites as well. Beautiful flowers. Well done.
