repotting time

i have some phalaenopsis but im affraid to repot them?

is there a time of the year to do that?

does that affect the flower spike growth? and what about keiki growth?

People often wait until spring to repot, but there are a few things that would warrant action immediately, such as a decaying potting medium or any sort of rot. Check the roots and the state of the medium-- if they look healthy and the plant is not in decline, your best bet is to wait a few more months.

Repotting while the orchid is in spike often, but not always, disrupts the flowering, but it's worth the sacrifice if the survival of the plant is in question. Not sure about keikis. However, even well-timed repotting usually results in a short period of shock, so it's a good idea to do it when the plant is putting out active, healthy root growth. Good luck!

Many (tho not all) Phals are fine being repotted while in bloom or spike. They are also generally fine with getting repotted whenever.

Ideally, if plant / roots are fine, repot when roots are actively growing, and there are new roots starting.

are these two in quick need of repoting or can i wait until spring?

These look like healthy plants to me. I would not re-pot them. I would wait until Spring.

That plan looks really healthy. But it's obviously pot bound and needs to be repotted sometime soon. Can probably wait till spring if you want to but I don't think it should matter. Just keep your grow temperatures up and it should be fine.

I see no reason why you cannot repot it now. It will get a faster start into growth mode when it gets into new mix. One plant already has a new leaf coming and new roots. Letting Phals in or out of bloom stagnate in old moss, outgrown pots or broken down mix with old and broken roots serves no purpose in my opinion. :twocents:
