Neostylis Lou Sneary
2 Attachment(s)
I've had this one about 5 years, but the first year and a half I had it, I tried very hard to kill it :p (too much water) It bloomed last year for the first time for me, after taking a couple years to recover from my mistreatment. When I got it, it was two fans - they separated due to my poor care - the other has grown as well as this one, and has gotten a couple of spikes, but they've aborted ...
Now growing in a 3" clay pot, coconut husk chips mix, west facing window. Looks like the small buds at the spike tip are blasting :p Thanks for looking :) |
Beautiful!

Well done!!!! Mine is blooming now too. Mine keikied and both it and the mom are in blooming.
Something I noticed is that these neo hybrids grow awesome when grouped together. I have about six hybrids of various types growing with no medium at all together. I can't explain it but apart they didn't do well, together they're happy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hmm ... interesting observation about grouping the Neo hybrids ... My other two Neostylis (the other Lou Sneary, and a Pinky) grew together - both also spiked, but Lou Sneary spike aborted ... |
I love this!
I tossed mine two years ago when I was moving. Should have kept it. Is yours fragrant? I remember mine very nicely scented. I now have a substitute which is a cross between neo and this plant, and it is very small but it has four fans. I think I see a spike coming, but it could be just another fan. lol I would love to see what the flowers will look like. congrats on your reward after all these years! You are very patient. haha |
Beautiful form!
Glad you have found the right culture for your climate. Probably that is the key, aside from buying healthy plants. I have lost a few Neos and its hybrids in the past. Now, back in the N. East with central heating, low humidity in the house, I have healthy blooms developing on Neo hybrids in S/H. The new roots also look as healthy as I have yet seen. |
Wow, gorgeous, I so love the color! And big plant!

Sweet! One of mine is spiking and the two others seem to be watching to see how to do it.;) I hope they space it out so I have one in bloom as the others fade.

What a nice show! Congratulations!
