Dendrobium normanbyense bud watch

I thought I had made a thread about this, but apparently, I forgot.

Not much of a bud watch I'm afraid, since I haven't been here for a while (again).

This is how far the first of its two spikes has gotten now (I absolutely love those spots/freckles!):

The picture was taken this Monday, and the "oldest" of these buds, is turning white!

Nice. Can't wait to see them at anthesis.

CONGRATS!!! I am at the same spot like you, just about to start open, can't wait!

Alright, the buds have developed further, and I LOVE them.

They are turning whiter and whiter (not visible in this picture, since it was some days ago since I took it) and the spots are a wonderful violet colour, and there are so many of them!

OMG, more spots!!! lol

I am very interested in seeing the flowers. :)

I love those spots. I'm also looking forward to seeing the flowers. They look awesome in pictures, so seeing them IRL is going to be an experience. :D

All buds have now opened, but this photo is from when the first flower had been open for a couple of days. I've noticed that it turns more and more white as it ages, so I'll update this thread after some time have passed. :)

I'm very happy with my little normanbyense, and I'm wondering if I've gotten hold of an unusually spotted one (I'm calling it Spot now).

Absolutely amazing! I would love to get one of those - how big does the plant get, is it compact//mini? Please say yes lol!

Are you ready? It is a small species! I fell in love with the Dend atroviolaceum, but wouldn't get one since it gets so big. Then it turned out that it had a small relative, looking exactly like the atroviolaceum, but much smaller, so I had to get one.

Mine, which has about 11 bulbs (most of them are smaller than the new ones, though), stands in a 3.1" (8 cm) pot, and the plant is about 4.7" high (12 cm). I doubt it'll get that much bigger. Now, go and get one! ;)

It sort of reminds me of latouria plants.
I have to say I absolutely love that bright purple lining of the lip.
