This is the third year that I have had the C. cernua. Last year it bloomed in August so it is a little late this year but I did get about seven new growth that all produced buds.

The second plant, just for your interest, is a hybrid using C. cernua x L. anceps. This is the first flower to be produced and is about 1 1/2". I was expecting much more from this cross. Even though it is very disappointing, I will probably keep it.

Absolutely amazing! I love them both, but cernua is the one I must have, this is second post for cernua in last few days, and I am so dying to have a hand on one:-))) Hope soon!

The cernua is just fabulous! Mine bloomed in December last year and looks as though it is on target to bloom pretty soon (if it is intending to bloom).
TOMMYMIAMI, it is a very nice little orchid. :)

Tommy, New World Orchids sells Sophs. They have several different kinds of crosses.

You are too strict on your orchids. :D
So your Soph. cernua bloomed a bit late. It sure did make up for it with all those blooms, wow!!!
And the hybrid, I love it. Great colour!

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!

The C. cernua is great, and the C. cernua x L. anceps isn't bad. It is quite possible that a second or third flowering on a more mature plant will be much improved. I'm surprised that hybrid wasn't registered 100+ years ago.

Wow, so many blooms on the species. Beautiful flowers and plant. Great color and striations on the cross and the flower shape might improve on the next bloom or maybe it's not yet fully open.
