First online orchid buying experience - venting!
I bought an orchid for my Aunt from a place that I will not name (yet - pending more info/chance to fix things) I ordered Phrag. kovachii x Phrag. dalessandroi (she loves lady slippers, has several and I thought this one would be unique and awesome and plus I can vicariously enjoy it with her!) Today it arrived and she thanked me for the Phalaenopsis (I had her double check and read me the label)!!! I live several states away and she doesn't have a digital camera, so I have to wait until I can get up there this weekend and see it to be sure (but she knows lady slippers, so I do trust her ability to recognize one, even if it is mislabeled....)
Anyway, I am pretty unhappy right now. Anyone else have this experience? The company wants a picture before they can do anything (I don't blame them) So now I just have to sit on my hands until I can drive over there Saturday. :( Reassurance is appreciated!!! Pictures to follow... Saturday! Argh! |
I've had mix-ups from time to time...the packers are human so I feel mistakes are going to happen. I've never had something so "wrong" as a phal instead of a phrag...but sometimes people get in a hurry and don't pay attention.
Good vendors will make it right. Not so good vendors will give you the run around. I don't know who you bought it from but requiring a pic is pretty standard (for the most part) so I would reserve judgement until after I've been able to send the pic. Let them know the situation w/your camera so they have a heads up that it'll be a few days...and if they are a responsible vendor then you should have no trouble getting the plant you paid for. BTW - most of the time when a mistake has been made...I've been told to keep the "wrong" plant to compensate for any inconvenience. |
