Bulbophyllum lilacinum (?)

I'm 99.9% sure that this is Bulbophyllum lilacinum, but I won it on the raffle table without a tag that's why I put the question mark at the end of the title. I was so excited because this was the only orchid I wanted on the table, as it was in bloom, in an awesome pot and well grown. It had a few bugs in the media, but I'm currently taking care of them. :whip:

Thank you! I have to confess that many people weren't paying attention when tickets started being pulled even though it was announced over 3x, that worked in my favor because they called about 5 numbers before me and only one claimed their plant. Plus, there were a lot of paphs on the table, which my society goes crazy for. I personally like the weirdness of a bulbo. much better then the sofistication of a paph., which gives you a clue to my personality!! Lol!!

Not sure but it is gorgeous!

Does yours smell like lilacs?

There is a bulbo that smells like lilacs? I think I need this one! I love the smell of lilacs in the spring but, all too soon, it is over. How strong is the fragrance and how often does this bulbo bloom?

I don't understand why you would think this. Why would one genus be more sophisticated than another? I think paphs are more familiar here in the US, more popular, thus perhaps more valued but sophisticated?

I was being silly, my humor doesn't always come across well over the Internet, so I was trying to offend by saying bulbos aren't sophisticated, as I love them and have many in my collection.

the flowers are similar to what Brooke posted but you have to show us the whole plant and if it has a lilac fragrance to really ascertain if it is a lilacinum....otherwise it is a fantastic flower.

Ahhhhh!!! I have seen a version of these but they were red w spots!!! These are astoundingly beautiful!! I will have to look for a close relative of this!! Especially if it smells nice!!

Oh but I love me some bulbos more than paphs/phrags as well. I agree with their wildly growing patterns as well.
