grape swirl scaphaglottis potting media

I ordered from Larry's Orchids; I also got one of their "ugly Duckling" program. thus the scaphaglottis I received today.

WHAT do I plant these in? the website stated that it would be good to use a quick draining soil with extra perlite and peat soil? what is peat soil?

Thank you

Peat soil is normally a springy spongey, soiless potting medium. Based on peat lol.

I tend to find bags of it in the house plant section.

Well crap everyone here has already put out all of their Christmas stop and I would have to special order them. I guess I will use potting mix with extra perlite and some lava rock. Think that would work.

I actually have no idea if that's an ideal potting medium for that orchid. Someone else would have to chime in on that.

But that's where you would find that soil.
Lucky me I guess... our houseplant section is up year round.
