Ludisia discolor

Have had this plant for 7 years growing in one of my vivariums. Not a reliable bloomer for me in those conditions, but it does manage a spike from time to time.

Oh wow! Never seen one of these in bloom, I've always seen it said that people grow these for the foliage, not the flowers. Very cute flowers actually!

Good growing!

Awesome, thanks for sharing, I have actually 2 on the way, should be there tomorrow, love the foliage but hope to make it spiking!

Very lovely and nice work on the photos.

Always interesting what works for some folks doesn't necessarily work for others. :) Ludisia grows easily for me as a houseplant, but when I tried a cutting in my 55gal terr, it didn't survive. (On a different but related note, African violets do exceedingly well for me in terrs but die slow withering deaths as houseplants. )

Nice flower shot, Caesar!

THanks all!

Hi Paul, African Violets melt off inside my tanks, yet when I used to keep them, they did well on my windowsill. Never tried keeping Ludisia outside a terrarium. The spike on this one has already reached the top of the tank and no longer fits. The spike is about 15" tall if not 20".

Thanks Ron for commenting on the photos!

Tindomul, I actually got mine today, and posted the thread about them in vendors feedback, could you check it, I have no clue if I have near blooming size plants or blooming size, and how long it may take for them to bloom, I read this is small size orchid but I have no clue, never bough jewel orchid be4:-) Many thanks in advance!

I love mine, I grow it like a houseplant and it's currently pushing out 4 spikes. Best blooming yet. This plant rocks!

Love this one and great photos.

I find this grows a bit like a weed, my one plant turned into a massive one in a big bonsai bowl as well as 5 other plants and 4 pieces currently rooting in water. I have found it a reliable bloomer on my windowledge and I've spotted the first signs of buds forming on the big plant already this year.
