My keiki is dying

Hello! My name is Mercedes, I am new to this forum. I was hoping that some of you more experience orchids care givers can help me.
I do not know the name of my orchid but it had big white flowers and was doing great for 3 years. During the summer grew 2 keikis but the mom started to dye. I have not move the plant and I have 2 other orchids side by side that are thriving...
I have been waiting for a while for the keikis to grow roots but one of them has already died and the second one is starting to loose consistency in the leaves (getting softer) i want to save the second one. The mom is completely dry. What should i do? Should pot it? Help!
Eternally grateful!
M.

WELCOME ABOARD!

Pictures would help us help you better.
is it a basal keiki or growing from the spike? either way you need to spray it and moisten the keikis so not to die....only if it has grown roots can you twist and detach it then pot it....

Thank u Bud! It is growing from the dead spike. It does not have any roots. I will place the humidifier close so it gets a lot of moisture.

is the spike still green? if the spike is brown, dry and dead then pot the keiki to save it....cut an inch of spike on each side of the keiki then pot it.

Welcome to Orchid Board :welcome:

Is the spike still green or has that dried up? Some people have had success if the spike is still alive with cutting it and putting it in water like a cut flower, but success is not guaranteed.

Welcome to the board and I hope you can save your keiki. You only have to post 3 more times before you can post a picture.
