What is an am/aos orchid?
 

I know aos stands for american orchid society, but what do these acronyms mean when it comes to buying an orchid? I just bought one on ebay that says, Cattleya Orchid Blc Yen Corona 'Green Genie' AM/AOS. Thanks

AM is 'Award of Merit' from the American Orchid Society. It's the second highest award possible. FCC/AOS is a 'First Class Certificate' which is the highest award and it's very rare.
