Ctsm. Frilly Doris... when will you bloom???

Ok, I was really waiting for my Frilly Doris to bloom. It bloomed last year in the care of someone else. Will it bloom this year???

:bump:, maybe somebody else could help you out. Mine came to me this year already in bloom. So I am kinda in the same boat.

New growth mine is doing the same thing. Even had a thread on it. Good job wait for it to be bigger 3-5 inches THEN cut dead roots, put it in fresh medium and slowly start watering again.

That is such a cute little thing!
I love to see new growths or buds. :)

I just noticed that my zygo is sending up a tiny new growth looking just like this picture.

By the way, my cycnoches has been out of bloom for quite some time now, but there is no news. no yellowing of leaves, no new growths.

I'll guess I'll keep looking but I have no clue how similar or how different a few different groups of plants within the catasetum family behave, leaving me further frustrated and lost.

My FDK. After Dark, is not going into sleep mode yet either, so Idk what it is going to do, nor has my Saccatum Lita.

So just care for it as normal, watering? I just stopped watering this month... The leaves on the one growth are browning and yellowing. :dunno:

It's a bit too early to know whether you have a spike or new growth there. 2 of the plants in the mix of Frilly Doris (pileatum and fimbriatum) both have spikes that emerge from the base of the pbulb. Give it a bit more time and you'll know for sure what you're dealing with.

You've stopped watering and the existing leaves are on their way out so I would not start watering again at this point. If it does turn out to be a growth...you want to wait until the roots on that new growth are a good 3-5" long and the new leaves have unfurled quite a bit. Watering at the wrong time can quickly lead to rot and the loss of the plant.

It's a new growth... pano blooms yet. I have a question about dividing it and back bulbs. It has 3 old bulbs and a new growth. Is it better to have more bulbs or less? I thought someone said for best performance divide in half when there are 4 back bulbs. ??? And when would I do this? Most advicei found said after it loses leaves. So not just as new roots emerge like now?
