Help for my daughter's mini Phal?
 

This poor guy can't win for losing! Relocated to my office window due to being under watered. Recently reported in bark after the spike dried up and dehydrated.

It has new leaf and root growth... And I took it down for watering today and found this:

What's going on with it? The white spot under the new leaf is old. I figured I would just leave the leaf until the plant dropped it on it's own. The yellowing at the edge of the other leaf is new in the last week and so is the blackish purply mark.

It's swimming in water in the pic, because I am watering it right now. It is not usually left like that.

Sunburn !

Yes, I know there is sunburn on the leaf in the bottom of the photo. I am concerned about the blackish/purple mark below the white spot on that leaf in the photo. Is this some sort of bacterial rot?

Also, is the yellowish outline also sunburn, or could that be a sign of some other issue?

The plant has been in this location for three months. Since it was removed from my daughter's care due to the sunburn.

Sun burn, mine looks like that now in my green house due to sun positioning being different with the season change.

Also it may slowly be dying since it is developing a new leaf and that will be the lower leaf now.

So the large black, spot in the bottom of the photo (not the black spot inside the white spot on the leaf, the one I am talking about is south of that and is sort of light in the picture, but it spans pretty much from the white spot, to the leaf tip) is also sunburn? Not rot? If so, this would be a huge relief.

I would say yes. BUT I still could be wrong.

Just wanted to make sure that we were on the same page with the various spots that were being discussed. Good grief! This poor orchid has been through it!

I'll move it to a lower light location in the room. My other mini phals in this same window are doing fine, this one just seems to be less light tolerant than they are for whatever reason. :(

I would just keep an eye on it. If the spot gets larger, then you need to remove the leaf. I just found a white phal on clearance a few weeks ago and it had two leaves with such spots but the spots grew and I removed most of those leaves. If the spot doesn't change after a few weeks, no point in removing the leaf.

The dark area could be lots of things. or nothing. Being in an office setting with the lights, it could be needing more light. probably not. It could be slowly dying from the sunburn. It could be some sort of fungal attack. Orchids are slow growers and if it were in my care, I would leave it alone. Let it get completely dry before watering it again. let it heal on it's own. The new leaf and root are encouraging.
