Anthopterus wardii and Disterigma rimbachii

Both of these plants I recieved as cuttings rather recently and both are types of tropical blueberries. I placed them in a rooting vial (I call it that), and after about two months they both had enough roots to plant them. The thing is, they both flowered before I planted them into my new exoterra terrarium. When I recieved them neither had any indication of flowering.
I placed the plants in their rooting vials inside my exoterra terrarium when I first recieved them to get them to root, but I'm happy with flowers and roots too!

Anthopterus wardii, I fell in love with this plant many years ago when I first noticed it at the New York Botanical Gardens. I know its a huge vining plant, but I just don't have anywhere else to put it, and it likes my tank. So I figure I'll just have to train it and prune it aggresively.

Disterigma rimbachii
This one will grow to be a small epiphytic bush. I can definetly keep this one under control.

For reference, here is the whole tank.
Anthopterus wardii is in the lower left hand corner, and Disterigma rimbachii is in the lower middle behind the red flowers.

They are awesome, the first red one really look like blueberry blooms as I remember them from the forests in Europe:-) And your setup is amazing, looking better and better!

Sweet set up and plants ya have there, Caesar. Too bad the berries won't be edible. Any fragrance to the flowers?

Now if either of those were mini plants that would truly stay mini, I'd have to beg a cutting off you at some distant time. But, sounds like both get far bigger then I could do.

Wow! Beautiful plants and I love the terrarium! Do you have a thread for how you set up your terrarium? I would love to know how you did it!

Interesting additions to a very nice terrarium!

Hi Tindomul, I like yourtank and I'm going to build one like yours.

Tindomul 10-24-2013 11:28 AM

Feel free to ask me anything.

Do you have any sort of automated misting system for it? If so, how did you construct it? I would love to install one of these in a small terrarium, but I have no idea how one would get started!

What sort of lighting are you using?

This tank appears to be a terrarium style one, with swing open doors at the front. Do you find that to make it a lot easier to access the plants and etc, than using an aquarium?

Are you keeping any animals in here as well, or is it just plants?
