For outdoor gardening. Easy to grow, there should always be some humidity around the roots. It starts flowering in September, flowers are long lasting and remain until freezing temperatures set in. Also very cheap.

Easy to grow and they spread like a weed. I have them growing on the north side of the house where its damp and gets late after noon sun, I like the way the look and it adds color to the side garden.

very pretty plant, and nice blooms!

Are they hardy?

Yes, originating from Japan they can stand freeze up to -20°C. It is recommended to shelter them with twigs or leaves though.

Really pretty!

They do very well after sitting under 3 or more feet of snow every year, there hardy and I find hard to kill, they should do every well in your zone.

LOL Tell that to the ones I planted up at my folks' place -- they died out after only a year or two. ;) (Planted on the north side of their house, heavy shade, moist conditions......)

Put in my first ones this year and I was so impressed with the amount of time that they bloomed for me right off the bat!!! I also like that "orchid flower" look that they have.

I am going to put more in next year. Any recommendations on type?

Tricyrtis flava has a flower color quite a bit different from most , and for some foliar interest perhaps Tricyrtis 'White Waves'.
