Is my epidendrom Bifalce sick?
Okay this epidendrom came in with my retched looking catasetum that will be going right back to the seller. I noticed they must have bought these from the same seller from Ecuador, so before I exposed all of my other babies to this orchid want to make sure it is not actually a infection.
will post pictures from my phone since Ipad only allows to post one at a time...:((:((:(( |

ts currently being dunked in a aspirin bath w about 10 drops of physan as I am posting this.
Can this take cooler temp? We are having a cold front with night lows in low 50's. Days of mid 80's last 5 days we have been having lots of rain and cooler weather. I have a decent greenhouse outside that I would like to place this in to quarantine it. I have some plants out there but those are all hanging so would they be okay? The greenhouse does not have heating/cooling capabilities but does have high humidity due to the rain and then sunshine intermitently. |
I really don't know if it is sick or not. My plant has some markings on it but I took that to be from growing outdoors on their property in the mountains...at least, I believe they grow outdoors.
As to temps...mine is "growing" outdoors right now and in the bay area temps have been dipping down to mid-40s some nights. It might be doing harm, but it doesn't appear any worse for wear. Like I said when you first said you won it, mine is just sort of stagnant (maybe due to the lower temps). |
I can't tell if it is mold or bug zapped. or fungus....I cut and cauterized the really iffy looking leaves just for my honest piece of mind. every other part of the plant thus far looks okay....no issues on the stems but crappy roots....the sad thing is this comes from a seller the plants original seller is recommended to me by other ob members.......this has just not been my week what so ever. IF you want to see my really sick plant go look on Catasetum forum....

its not sick....those are cold spots(drops of water that reacted with the sun) you inherited this=it didn't happen on your watch....there are only few yellow rings around some of the spots it is an early onset of fungi infestation....flush this once a month the tip of the leaf is browning=salt deposits are in the roots

Epidendrum bifalce -
This gives a very vague description of growing conditions...I figure since it's so tall I'm growing it outdoors unless it starts to really suffer. |
Awesome looks like it could do well in a cooler climate for now, we are not having freeze weather yet...So it will be greenhouse bound from here on out.
