Calanthe sieboldii repotting time?
I'm one of those growers who yank any and all orchids out of their pots as soon as they get home, but I realize this is kinda like playing russian roulette, so this time I will proceed with more caution...
I bought a calanthe sieboldii in flower a couple of weeks ago, since then the flowers have faded and a nice fat new growth has started coming up. Every nerve in my body is screaming to repot it NOW, but I'm not at all familiar with calanthe, so what do you guys think? Now when it's in active growth or just as it enters dormancy (calanthe have dormancy, right?)? |
I don't know Calanthe either, by instinct is the same as yours.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge can advise. |
Thanks, I decided to go with my instincts, so hopefully I didn't kill it...

I think you should be allright. Since its in active growth it should be able to recover from any trauma because of repotting.

Ideally, evergreen Calanthe should be repotted before they start to grow in spring. They can also be repotted after they finish blooming and in fall after the summer heat is gone, but it is still warm.
