Oncidium pumilum / Trichocentrum / Lophiaris
3 Attachment(s)
A plant with succulent leaves and miniature flowers of 3 mm of size. Taxonomists are struggling about the name of the genus.
Initially I grew it mounted on a vertical limb. After 3 years of good success the center of the plant grew too dense and started to rot. So I had to take it off. Now I keep it in a netpot held by a skewer without any potting medium. Maximum air circulation kept the plant healthy for years. |
Awesome!

Really pretty!

The many tiny flowers make for an interesting display! Good growing!
I like the potting technique, similar to Vanda. Do you grow other Trichocentrum (formerly "mule ear" Oncidiums) in this manner? |
This is one of the most interesting oncidiums I have ever seen, love it, and the way you grow them!

Glad you like my suggestion. Sadly my Trichocentrum tigrinum went to orchid heaven years ago, but maybe I'll try my technique on another one in the future.
