Bifrenaria magnicalcarata
Hohene described this flower as a variety of Bifrenaria tyrianthina in 1950 that he called variety magnicalcarata. In 1976 Pabst elevated it to the rank of valid species. Can’t understand why Kew’s checklist of monocots insists in keeping it as a synonym of tyrianthina.

Beautiful! And I love your choice of complimentary background. Lends a lot of over-all interest to the composition, in my opinion. Keep them coming Mauro. I know you have lots to keep us occupied over these snowy days :)

Very pretty, Mauro. I wish I could get such pretty pictures of my 'chids.

Thanks, Ross! I tested a few backgrounds with this flower of soft color and I agree with you, this blue adds interest. I also photographed a Cattleya harrisoniana alba with this blue and with black and I must say that the blue background was superior. I'm posting it soon.
Ross, Linda it is my pleasure showing my plants and I'm glad that you and all the other forumites like them. |
