On a Happier Note...New Phal :)

Ok, so after starting the whole spider thread and possibly scarring some board members. I will share that I did receive a new Phal today and I have pictures :)

This was while unpacking it. I had no idea it would be this big:

and here it is after being repotted (minus the spiders):

and finally the flower spray:

It is a Dtps. Happy Cat 'Hello Kitty' HCC/AOS (Phal. Safe x Dtps. Happy UFO ' OX' AM/AOS). The blooms will eventually look like this:

I got it due to my 9 year old daughter's request. She could not resist it's nicknamed Hello Kitty ;)

Love the coloring and markings! Good Choice!

Oh yes, that is a pretty one! So your daughter is 9 years old. A orchid addict in the making?

I like! I used to love Hello Kitty when I was her age! ;)

I still love Hello Kitty. My girlfriends daughter is named Kitty so guess what she get's for B-day, Christmas- Anytime I want to give to her?

I can't resist it either! Where did you get it? I'm putting it on my wish list!

You should see my office some time. I have several hello kitty stuffed animals all over my bookshelves, a hello kitty bento box that holds my current cross stitch project, hello kitty notebook paper sitting on my desk. When I was considering getting a room humidifier, I found that someone out there in the wide world of awesome, makes a hello kitty shaped one. LOL!

Nice choice! Tell your daughter that I said that she has excellent taste!

I got it from orchids.com, BUT...I don't recommend this vendor at all. There are others online so just look for the Happy Cat Phal or it is also known as Hello Kitty Phal. This is the 2nd orchid I ordered from them and I was not thrilled with the first and the state of the roots the plant arrive in; hardly any and most rotted. The plant had been compacted in some mixed media with lots of sand...dunno why. This new Phal arrived yesterday with a bunch of baby spiders scattered through the tightly packed moss.

Lucky for me, I ignored their instructions and decided to repot anyways. If not, for sure, I would've had an infestation of spiders in my house.

I'll look around online then and avoid orchids.com. Thanks for the heads up! I've had enough issues with rot.

I've seen a similar orchid at one of the local grocery stores, but I'm tired of root rot on my phals!

The first, and only time I've ordered from them, I got mites with mine *a very sarcastic "yayyy"* it took me awhile to realize it was mites, b/c most of the mites ppl deal with are spider mites (which have webbing... Mine did not), and I lost my oldest phal to them, and a couple more, including my new Phals, which were not cheap... Before realizing that it was, in fact mites. :(( Just, please keep it separated!! I don't want that to happen to you!

Nice, I actually have hello kitty perfume (And it does not smell like something a 10 year old girl would like either) Hehe; Hello Kitty and Happy bunny were mine and my friends favorites. lol.

O and the orchid is awesome...To bad you had some spiders hitch a ride with you lol.
