Aliceara is an Oncidium alliance intergeneric hybrid (Brassia x Miltonia x Oncidium)

Same care as most Onc and Onc alliance intergenerics.

Bright indirect light etc...thanks whiterabbit I felt it was oncid and would take the same amount of care as my wildcat. How do you go about separating one of these it so big and has so many roots I almost want to separate it some so the plant is not having to try and feed so many phulbs.

WhiteRabbit 09-25-2013 08:10 PM

Any divisions should have a minimum of 3 mature/older growths plus one new one.

Actually a plant with many pbulbs is stronger/better able to withstand periods of stress or less than ideal culture - more pbulbs to support the plant in times of need. But, all three of the genera comprising this intergeneric can be quite robust, so it's probably fine whichever way you choose to go with it (divide or not)

Actually thinking on it more I may do it next year once It is good and settled. I kind of want to see if I can keep it alive long enough to make it look like @IncurablePlantHeads beast plant:rofl::rofl:.

Plus I am kind of scared this close to winter of messing with it and throwing it off. it will be so pretty when it blooms don't want to shock and kill it....

I had one of these (different cultivar) until recently (was discovered to have fusarium wilt) - but, in the few years prior, it grew like a weed!

kindrag23 09-25-2013 08:24 PM

O no but I feel that if this is any thing like my wildcat I am sure it will.

Leafmite 09-25-2013 08:33 PM

My oncidiums certainly grow like weeds. Good luck with it!

kindrag23 09-25-2013 09:10 PM

I hope this and my other two oncids. grow well. together. They all look so danged much alike.
