Cymbidium Spike???
1 Attachment(s)
My Cimbidium has been outside all summer, and now that the cooler nights are upon us... I find THIS!!
I haven't found any posts with pictures of a growth this small, so I'm looking for advise on weather this is a spike or growth?!?! |
Sorry... I'm NOT growing my cymbidium upside down.. Nor did I take the picture while hanging from a tree!
Just a new member with an iPhone! |
lol have to take the pics sideways I have found otherwise they do that. Um I will swing towards the possibility of a spike though and if so HURRAY!!
|
Looks like a spike

Right on Sonia. That is a spike. Watch the watering. Not too much. The weather is cooling and too much water will abort the spike and rot the roots. Cymbidiums like to grow upright as the flower spike has a difficult time changing direction. A little extra phosphorus/potassium will help produce larger flowers. But it is difficult getting water in through the hole ion the bottom of the pot. I suggest when you water, turn the pot upside down.   :waving

Nice, what color are the flowers going to be ?

Thanks everyone for your expertise! Do you think I should give it some shelter to avoid any rain water? I could put it under an overhang and still leave it outside... Should I do the same for my Phal's too?
Btw.. It's going to be green... I'm happy I went into Trader Joes last winter... Since they were only $20! I was there got 45 minutes trying to decide which one to buy! Oh.. And were can I find the potassium? Assuming a garden center? Will it simply say Potassium or would that be too easy?! |
Garden center under bloom booster. Ray has some good feed. First Rays here on OB.

Wow! $20? That's a lot. The home depots near me get them in during their natural bloom season for $10. I did see a beautiful white cascade type last winter. Been waiting for one ever since. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |
$10?!?! I wish!! Here in Cleveland, IF your lucky enough to find... I've never seen them under $50!
