Here to stop the insanity
Boy, have I killed me some orchids.
New guy here, located in K/W Ontario, just outside of Toronto. When I was in an apartment, I managed to kill every phal that came through my door. I've since purchased a home, and now have about 2 orchids per room. My wife is starting to get frustrated. I'm here to learn everything I can to avoid future orchid massacre. My phals no longer die off, in fact they seem quite happy! So I've progressed. I have 3 mature plants other than Phal. 2 I believe to be Catleya, but I can't be certain. The 3rd I have no idea... I'll post pics when they're flowering again in a few months. I've also received seedlings of a Phaius, Dendrobium, and a Cymbidium. The last of these... not doing so well. I'll be searching for what I need to turn this little guys fortunes around. Looking forward to learning. Koko.:hello |

:hello and :welcome: This is just the beginning, soon every room will have upwards of 10 plants. Not to worry, you are in good company here. Orchids are like Lays potato chips , you can't have just one

welcome. I'm glad you see an improvement in your growing, that is a good sign. What changes did you make to see the improvement?

I was mostly killing hardware store plants with ignorance. Lots of direct sunlight and plenty of water is the key to success with any plant, isn't it? :)
