Phrag. Cardinale?

I purchased this plant (not in bloom) represented as "the real Phrag. Cardinale". It wasn't what I expected when it bloomed, but I think I'll keep it anyway. Any comments?

Sorry, I got it posted in the wrong alliance.

What were you expecting?

Something with fuller, more rounded petals and a darker pouch. I'm not complaining about what I got, just that I was hoping for something different. I guess that's why I usually try to buy plants that are in bloom, but then you'll never get a great one unless your willing to pay the price. Sometimes it pays to gamble!

I agree. The petals should be shorter and fuller and the shape should be fuller. I guess the pouch should be darker also. I don't have phrag. Cardinale but I've been looking to buy one.

I don't think I have seen a Phrag Cardinale but it's very pretty anyway.

It sure is pretty.

Whatever it is, it's beautiful!

To me it looks like you have Phrag Sedenii (longifolium x schlimii), which is the parent of Cardinale (Sedenii x schlimii), or Phrag Rosy Gem (Cardinale x Sedenii). Though you might get this from a F2 Cardinale (Cardinale x Cardinale). Shape and color are both a bit disappointing if you expected a good Cardinale, too much Phrag longifolium coming through. It is impossible to say for sure though. Color could be better on another flowering with cooler temps or more light.

I was thinking that it looked more like Phrag Sedenii as well. I'm only going by what was on the label. It wouldn't be the first mislabeled orchid that I've bought.
