Any Ideas masdevalia or Dracula 5000ft moist forrest costa rica?

I think it might be a Masdevallia, difficult to tell for sure.

If it is a Masdevallia I'm not sure what kind it would be.

Interesting though, I would love to see plants like that in the wild.

Well one day I might just do that......;-)

Just convincing the wife that it's a good idea for me to fly overseas to look at orchids might take some work.

I'm not 100% certain of course but the flower structure looks more Masdevallia from your photos than Dracula to me. I hope someone knows what it is exactly.

Masdevallia nidifica?
 
It looks much like a Masdevallia nidifica Rchb. f.
I think that this species can be rather variable.
It should be found between Nicaragua and Equador.

I think you are right , I looked at orchidspecies.com and he photo there was kind of different but I searched some more and It looks like your are right. Did you know this from before, or how did you sort through all the masdevalias? any helpful websites?

You are right, Jay Pfhal's orchidspecies.com is probably the best "first try", and we should all help to make it even better.

For the Masdevallias I can recommend the book of the same name by Mary E. Gerritsen & Ron Parsons.
