Phal. violacea f indigo Blue Chip X self
This is the second time blooming for this Norton plant. Overall it's an improvement over last year. The flower is a bit bigger, the form is better and the color is deeper. That said the color is not as deep as I would have liked, and the form has room for improvement. I'll give it one more year and see what it does. It has a lovely sweet cinnamon scent. I should say the color is less violet and deeper in real life. It's very hard to get a good photo with my crappy camera that doesn't look washed out.

Well I think the color is lovely. I wonder if I will get as picky as some of you. I don't mean anything bad by that I just am so happy if I don't kill it and I can get it to bloom.
But after a while I guess you have gotten so many blooms you go for color and shape. I'm still working on not killing them hahahahha |
Gorgeous

Don't you just love Norton's blue Phals? I had to get one when I visited.

I think it's beautiful! I like the color. Judging from the name I assume you bought a seedling of a cross rather than a mericlone. In that case you can never be sure what you're going to get but it will be one-of-a-kind. Don't blame your camera for the difficulty photographing that color. I have a very expensive Nikon and I can't get the correct color on those blue/purple/lavender orchids.

It was a seedling, but it was a selfing of a clone. From what I understand selfings are not as variable as other crosses.

Terri,
It is lovely! The more of these I see the more I feel that I should contact the Nortons and see what they have available. |
Gorgeous!

Wow! I love it! Seriously, if you decide you don't want it, I would be more than happy to trade something with you... Have a couple flasks from Peter that should be getting some good size on them by next year! ;) Oh, & plenty of kiekes too, have luedde and, (prob just jinxed myself!) by next year, will have cornu-cervi (they r just now starting, 4-5?)
