Vanda Leaves going brown - any thoughts?
 

Hi,
I have 2 Vandas that have recently been looked after by someone else whilst I was on holiday for a fortnight. (the person looking after them had 3 but the other one was in a different room and appears to be fine).
Since these 2 have come back I've noticed that the leaves are starting to go light brown and become a bit 'sunken'
Does anyone have any thoughts what it may be, what causes it and what I can do about it?
The flowers on them both are just starting to go over and I don't really want to put these plants in the greenhouse with my other Vanda's if it's something contagious.
I've attached a close up of each plant and a pic of the full plant in both cases

I don't know Vanda's well, but to me that looks like burn. Has it been out in the sun the last few weeks with or heat-wave?

I used to have a vanda that got red tints in bright sun (a tan rather than burn), but it never got the full day sun like the weather we are getting now. Only morning and/or evening sun. To me that brown looks like sun-burn but I might be wrong.

It looks more like an environmental problem than a disease. Vandas need lots of water, lots of fertilizer and lots light. I think if you just give it some good culture, it will probably improve.

Nope - it hasn't been in the sun, they were in the bathroom where they were being looked after and are now in the lounge. Unless steam burn is an option I suppose from the bath?
I've checked all of the others which are currently in the greenhouse and they all seem to be fine - I would expect those to burn first!

Thanks James, the food side of things I definitely know about! My Mum was the one looking after them and they didn't get any food for about 3 1/2 weeks, she couldn't work out why none of them were doing anything, now I have them back, a few good doses of food and the ones in the greenhouse are shooting out roots like no ones business.
I'm glad it looks more environmental compared to something contagious.

When I first saw the photos I was thinking a long the same line as Rosie. It could be from extreme heat as well.

While I have not seen that type of issue on my vandas; I know someone locally who had some vandas that weren't being fed or watered properly and the leaves turned the same color as yours. I agree that cultural improvements should turn them around, but I would keep them isolated from your other plants for the time being, just in case it is something we can't make out from the pictures.
