I think I'm getting addicted to Cattleya's I got this one from Lowes, It's still a small plant & I don't know how long it takes to grow to maturity to bloom...It was in a 2 inch pot, I put it in a 4 inch pot, it was slightly root bound ?& the roots were dried out.

I found the same cultivar at Lowe's last week as a Better Grow orchid. Hope it grows well!

Any cultural tips from all the "orchid gurus" out there?

That's where I got it, from lowes, it was in a small pot, a 'bag baby'. I repotted it before taking it's picture. Yes it is also a better gro orchid.

I've bought 7 of those Lowe's bag babies over the past 4 months. For a beginner like me, the low price means I can take chances on plants I know very little about, and if I lose some, well, it doesn't exactly break the bank. The plants have all been vigorous growers, except some are in better shape then others when purchased. I bought one just like yours, but yours looks much better than mine did. The amount of abuse they can get in the store is just amazing, but these are tough little plants I guess.

My B Nodosa Little Stars came from Lowe's - in three months it has put out two new growths and two flowers from the same stalk. The fragrance is intoxicating and I just love this plant. It must be a very forgiving plant to be doing so well for me as a beginner. I bought a BL Yellowbird from a local grower last week, I think I'm getting hooked on anything with Nodosa in it. :)

I love nodosa mixes too. Yellow Bird also has Richard Mueller in it. I love those crosses too!

Edited to add:
Unfortunately, my Lowes hasn't gotten in any new bag babies in months. The same ones have been there the whole time and have never been watered

I have been checking my local Lowe's just about every Saturday to look for new arrivals, but it looks like they wait to sell their current batch, or most of it, before getting new ones. And they seem to cycle through the compact catts and the standard sized ones. Right now, mine has some standard sized catts, but they are way too big for me to grow under my lights unfortunately. The last one I bought there was a BLC Windward Flare (B Nodosa x LC Mem Robert Strait) that looked like it had not been watered for a really long time and was really shriveled, but it has put out three new growths and lots of roots since coming home.
