Best Potting Media for Blc. George King Southern Cross
So the Blc. George King Southern Cross I just bought looks like it is in regular potting soil. I've never encountered this before. Lately when I get a new orchid I have been repotting immediately after purchase to check for disease etc. Should I leave this one in it's current potting soil type media or is it ok to transfer it to bark type media? I'm in Ohio and it will be in an east facing window.

Personally, I recommend that you follow your instinct and repot it into whatever medium you are comfortable with that matches your growing conditions.

Heh! I don't really have any instincts yet. I am too new at this. I did go ahead and repot it into bark which so far has ended up being a good thing because there were the beginnings of some root problems. I think I caught it early enough and the plant will be ok.

Good deal. I was going to suggest you repot into bark, if that's what you generally grow Catts in. :)
