Den phal with new growth
1 Attachment(s)
So today while watering my orchids I noticed this new little nub growing on my den phal hybrid. In the past couple weeks I've noticed all my orchids have been growing new leafs. This is my only non-phalenopsis orchid and recently just finished blooming and the spike started turning yellow from the top so it cut it. Is there any tips on what I should be looking for or doing special? Thanks in advance. Oh and I had just watered it in the pic that's why the lava rock looks so shiny :-)

Feed it 21-21-21!

Doesn't need ant special care. Water and fertilizer as usual. These do generally want more light than Phals.

Ok thank you both!

If you soak it when you water, don't leave the plant standing in water for more than a few minutes, or the new cane might rot (I know that because I did it!) :twocents:

So this thread is a little old but I wanted to post a pic of how much that little nub has grown since I first posted about it, it's the stalk all the way to the right. It's a bit lighter green than the others...

Looks very happy! :wtg:

Is looking great. Before you know, you'll be having flowers. Btw, they can rebloom from the older canes as well.
