Plant isn't mature enough. Just one flowering on this first bloom seedling.

nice flower :) - the spots..I have the "orange spots" version. Easy to grow plants given lots of light heat and water right now during the extreme weather. Mine got beat by hail in april and 8 inches of rain in 6 hours. All the leaves on the old canes got mashed to bits. I left it alone after some encouraging from OB members and it now has 4 new canes...cant wait to show it off!!
We had a discussion on species x species crossed plants in orchid meeting once. I was at 1st told they were hybrids. This is NOT true!!. If a species is a species and crossed with another species of the same kind no matter what cultivar it is, it is still a species. You can back cross forward cross reverse cross and self cross a species to get different looks. Its still a species. So put that plant on the species table at the Orchid meeting not on the HYBRID table. good job :bowing |
Catt;eya aurantice 'orange'
Hey RJ: I had the opposite experience at the recent HOS meeting. I put my C. brabiante on the species table when (as I found out during the presentation portion) it is a hybrid. One of the" knowledgeable ones" informed me as to its parents. :)

ah yes I thought it was a species myself. Don was there to help us get it right, again :).
I think he was the one who spotted the aurantiaca too. Hes a judge he should know these things, we just try to read the tags or remember what it is if we cant read the tags anymore. Others will remember for us more than we can ever forget :) |
