Dendrobium choices

Hey,

I would like to try my hand at a dendrobium.
Was curious what did you think of atroviolaceum or (Inobulbon) munificum.

Do they flower multiple times per year?
Do they look ok when not flowering? ( not pathetically dry canes  )

I grow atroviolaceum. I think they look nice, but I like dendrobium. Canes with a few sets of leaves. Mine flower from every growth as it matures so 2-3 times a year. I'm not familiar with the second species but after a quick search it looks like it might not be what you're after as far as pretty when not in bloom. Not sure, though.

I wasn't aware of atroviolaceum blooming more than once a year. Mine did not. But, canes CAN bloom more than once, so every year you get more and more spikes :) And it's not too difficult to grow. I do love Dens from the Latouria section! Hybrids Microchip and Aussie's Chip are always popular.

How big do atroviolaceum get?
