Just missed them!

I am in Maine right now, and my family and I went to the Botanical Gardens. I was excited to see some cypripedium orchids last year, and I was looking forward to it this year. Much to my disappointment, I hade just missed blooming season! I have one picture of a not-so-good looking cypripedium reginae var. album. As for the others, well, enjoy some pictures of wilted, shriveled flowers

Does anyone know what kind of cypripedium this is? the leaves look slightly different, and the spikes don't have the extra sheaths:

Hi, I'm in Boston too & my wife and I are heading up to Maine for the week following the 4th :-)
Was just wondering which BG you visited?

It is the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Here is the website:

Looks like a cool place! The other Cyp is probably acaule (meaning 'stemless'), that's typical of their growth habit and I usually see them in pine-dominated woods.

Still, it's awesome. I missed the Cyps blooming at the New York Botanical Gardens this year. Can't wait till spring.
