I think this is an Australian Orchid that we found on a trip back in December 2010, but what is it.

OK, i did a bit of digging around on google today and it would seem this is Dipodium roseum.

Terrestrial saprophyte, no leaves only part to emerge above ground being the flower.

Really lovely, and does look like the pictures of Dipodium roseum I can find online.

Hi Rosie,

Found this at the side of a car park leading to Millers landing, this area had been devastated by a bush fire in 2009, the regeneration was incredible when i went in 2010.
