My first Neo spikes ever!
This is my first season growing Neos, so I am thrilled to have 4 of my 7 in-spike already. :D
From left to right, Shutennou, Karanishiki (a tiger stripe) and Suruga-fukurin. The Karanishiki is from Orchidweb/Orchids Ltd. and the other 2 are from Seed Engei, purchased at the SEPOS show in April. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5441/8...ff7e89f1_o.jpg Neo-spikes-20130607 by Jayfar, on Flickr And bringing up the rear, is the lovely little Hisui that I bought a few weeks ago from Seed Engei on ebay: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7373/8...057c65b0_o.jpg Hisui-spike by Jayfar, on Flickr |

Wow~ that must be really exciting!
I'm having my first neo spikes as well, although mines are still all very small. Mine is mounted, however I'm thinking of taking it off and switching it to moss in a pot later. How moist do you keep the moss for your plants?? Thanks in advance. |

Cool, way to go:) and nice plants.
That smaller growth on Suruga fukurin looks like it may be mutating into some kind of shima type. Suruga sometimes morphs into Shinshinden but in this plant, that 2nd growth does not look like Shinshinden. Whatever it is, it may increase the value of the plant overall, I'm guessing. Enjoy them! |

Beautiful plants Jayfar! I have noticed that Orchid Web provides English translation of the name. In the case of Karanishiki, it means "Chinese brocade". Whereas Shutennou and Suruga-fukurin from Seed Engei do not. I wonder if there was a way to get the names of these plants in English (Chinese Brocade), in the phonetic Japanese (Karanishiki), and in Kanji? I am not looking too much at your Neos but golly, I really like that Hisui. Because you linked your Fickr photos, I found another plant that hard as I tried could not see the name, would you indulge me and tell me its name? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/09/a8adejab.jpg |
