First blooms on Amaryllis grown from seed
3 Attachment(s)
Four years ago, an OB member pollinated her Amaryllis, sowed the seeds, then sent out tiny seedlings (just a few weeks old) to people who wanted them. One is now blooming for the first time; another has buds! :D I had/have no idea what they would look like.
I don't have any names for these. Blooms are huge, and are a nice salmon or coral color. Thanks for looking :) |
congrats !
I have just planted mine out. Any idea if the parent was the same colour as the bloom you have ? I read somewhere that with todays' hybrids very few bloom true from seed. |
Finally!
They look pretty. What comes to my mind based on the color and pattern is Amigo and Vera. |

Cool, I will check out those ones. I'm mostly just happy to have some Amaryllis! |
That's really neat and it is beautiful!
|
Looks great, not sure I would have the patience to grow them from seed, but it looks well worth it!

thanks silken, Rosie :)
It's been a long wait, but it's very exciting when things bloom after a long wait. I got passion flower seeds from the same person at the same time - took 3 years before I got any blooms - very exciting when I first spotted buds last year! |
Lovely flowers, Sonya.

Love it, these are one of my favorite bulb originating (?) flowers. Thanks for sharing Sonya.
