Spike from Crown
 

Hi, I have a peloric Phal Jia Ho's "Pink Girl" that has a spike coming from its crown. Is this what is known as a "terminal spike"? It has sent out a string of flowers and 2 keikiis. I will continue to grow the babys attached , until their roots are a bit longer (currently 2"). Please advise if there is anything I could be doing in order to save the mother plant. Maybe it will shoot out some new growths from the bottom as well? Thanks for looking.

That does rather look like a terminal spike. You may find you get keikis on the flower stem once the flowers are done, and you may get a basal keiki at the bottom of the plant. Good luck!

Actually, looking at the other picture, you already have kekis, so you haven't totally lost this plant. :)

Yes, looks like a terminal spike. While the main crown won't grow further the mother may produce a basal keiki which will take over as the new crown of the plant. Good that you also have some keikis on it which you can grow if that doesn't happen.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I actually bought the plant in spike almost a year ago, not realizing it was a terminal spike. Well actually a friend and I had a discussion about how was the plant going to continue to grow, but I liked the look of the flowers and it had the keikis (smaller) at the time so for the 20 or so$ figured i'd give it a try....learning experiences.
