Sedirea Japonica Pod MaturationTime?

Hello All,
I selfed a Sedirea japonica "Minmaru" a few weeks ago and was wondering if anyone knows (roughly) how long a Sedirea pod takes to mature. Also, I would like to know how long a Neofinetia falcata pod takes.

Thank you

per OrchidWiz the Neo is 165 days. However in my own experience its not always infallible. If I were you I would watch for a colour change in the pod - from about 120 days.
There is no info on the Sedirea. I had a pod but it failed after 30 days.

Great, thanks. I'm just getting my feet (and kitchen floor) wet with flasking and hybridizing. I've looked online quite a bit and cannot find much info on pod times for even moderately obscure species. Is OrchidWiz a useful tool (worth the cost)?

Thanks again

I think OrchidWiz is invaluable. I use it for the data - but also for cataloguing my plants, with notes.
The company told me that they are bringing out an app in 2014 which will make it even better.

Thanks for the info, I will put it on my to-buy list.

Hello Splyttheprophet
Iam a little curious about what kind of media you are going to use? and or/if it is green pod or mature/dry seed you are going to give a try? Iam having some pods on my own Sedirea Japonica as well, thats why iam curious :-)

I don't have the bottle in front of me, but I was planning to use one of Phytotech's formulations for general orchid culture. I can post the product number when I get home, if you'd like. I plan to wait for the capsules to mature completely so that I have data points to work from in the future for green pod sowing with this species.

That would be great if you could tell me the product number. that sound like a good strategy with the pods :-) I wish you the best luck with it.

Larssh- Shoot! Sorry, I completely forgot to post that info. I just got through with final exams on Friday and my brain is mush... I looked through my media, and the only germination medium that I have to work with is for Cypripediums. I will be sowing multiple flasks of those very soon so I plan to sow some Sedirea seed in a couple to see if it works (the capsules look like they will be ready soon). I also plan to make my own germination media soon, so I will post more info when I do that. The Cyp medium is made by Phytotech, product number T849.
