Phal Hybrid?

I was at my local WalMart today and they were putting out loads of phals. They had two with very small white flowers with a little rainbow shaped arbor. They each had 5 spikes and the spikes were trained to go around the arbor. They had no tag except to say they were Phals. I had to have one. I have searched and found what I think they are. Aphrodite hybrid? Anybody have one? And is their care the same are the reg. phals? I wish I could post a photo, but that is beyond me. Sorry.

Aphrodite is one of the common parents in the complex phal hybrids, it gives those big flat petals.

I think it's quite likely it will need standard phal care though can't say for sure without seeing it. See the link in my signature for help in posting pics.

I have seen those phals at Walmart. Those are standard phals that the grower very patiently and carefully trained to follow that structure. Consequently they are a bit more expensive than the normally spiked plants that Walmart sells.

Could be Matt, But the flowers are only a little bigger than a nickel? white and exactly like the hybrid aphrodite AlainBrochart? Not a normal sized phal flower or even close. It has 5 spikes with many flowers on each spike.

many breeders "miniaturise" by using phal equestris in the line breeding.

I don't know if you know this site, but have fun looking at species and primary hybrids

Yes, I found that sight. that is how I identified it. Thank you.

Becky if it has no name other than Phal. Hybrid it is a NOID. There are a million and one white Phals, standard size and miniature, so there is no way to ID it for sure without DNA testing. Phal. aphrodite is described by Baker as having 3.5 inch blooms.
