Kinkujaku, Asahiden, Kinkosei
 

Kinkujaku, a bean leaf that is supposed to have tiger stripe. I look fwd to it growing under my lights for a while to see how much stripe there really is. May be hard to see but the root tip is ruby, too.

Asahiden, hard to say what variegation this is... Not quite marginal not tiger. But I guess its more marginall variegation than tiger!

Kinkosei, this guy is in kind of rough shape... Damaged leaves and such. But it makes sense once you see he box it showed up in. Dr Glenn did a good job packing these guys but the USPS did an awesome job of stomping on the box.

Even though it was sent priority USPS, this box spent a week in Detroit before it finally came this way. The plants seem ok thank goodness, but why did the USPS use my box as punching bag? Lol.

Also, this is my tiger stripe I got a month ago... Its color has gotten awesome since under my lights. Love it!

This is my Tom bean leaf... Quay and I both think its just getting use to my conditions but come on dude... Stop dropping leaves! It is growing new leaves and roots so I'm not concerned but it is irritating. It lost some pretty leaves!

Ugh! That reminds me why I avoid USPS Priority like the plague. A while back I had a compot from Hawaii that tracking showed arrived in TX within a couple days, where it was carefully aged for about a week before making it here to Philly after just short of 10 days. Of course the weakened seedlings all eventually succumbed. The dealer had offered me a refund if I refused the late delivery, but I decided to take a chance on them.

I now always do 2-day fedex only (and in rare cases 1-day fedex) and I divert each shipment to a nearby fedex center where I am able to pick them up first thing in the morning (rather than having them kick around on the fedex truck all day).

Love the Neos and great job blooming the vandas. You and the handful of others here that have been posting Neo pics lately have really been stoking my new fascination with these little gems. I only have the 3 I picked up at SEPOS so far, but I have a Neo Kara Nishiki enroute from orchidweb to pickup at fedex tomorrow. Next I guess I need to look into adding a bean leaf.

WOW! you have quite an expensive haul there.....
My favorite is that ruby tip tiger striped bean Neo kinkujaku=I am drooling....you managed to capture a couple of striping on the leaf.

Thank you! These neos have a way of getting into you and forcing you to collect them! I'm shocked I got the vanda to bloom... they like things "just so" it seems, in order to be happy. I'm a HUGE fan bean leaf neos... I shouldn't be because they're more difficult to bloom and I love the blooms too... but who cares, they're great in and out of bloom.

It was a pretty pricey haul. Blew through the plant budget for sure. The tiger stripe beaner is gonna be awesome. And ruby root tips to boot!

I'll post the vandas in the vanda forum but I didn't have time to do it yet-- I want to get good pics of them.

Sonya, i have not. It won't do any good and would just stress me out. The USPS is just so completely indifferent to people these days. Our post office in particular is very dysfunctional. There is one man that works there that I won't even work with, he's that bad. For instance, the moment you step up to his desk he'll yell, "Well hurry up we haven't got all day!". I swear he has a mental disorder but I just won't work with him. It's really that bad. And he does that to everyone... it's embarrassing for him and my fellow Coloradans.

Thanks, re the Vandas... the flowers look a little goofy... like the colors are muddled together... but I think since its my first time blooming it in my condition, it needs some more time to "settle" in. The blooms it had when I got it were very clearly laced, white and blue.

Ryan, please send the photo of your Kinkosei and the box to Dr. Lehr. I'm sure he will help you out.

I've never had any issues with USPS Priority Mail either sending or receiving packages. *knocking on wood* I would suggest that you have packages marked "hold for pick up" if you're having problems.

I'm getting a Neo pot from Dr. Lehr. Hope it makes it in one piece...

That collection of yours is growing! Addicting, isn't it? Unfortunately I got a box very much like yours via 2 Day Fed Ex. You just can't predict how badly each company will destroy your boxes unfortunately.

The tracking seems to show that the package was insured, so there might be some course of action there, but then again dealing with the USPS bureaucracy might be enough to make one go postal, so to speak. :)

They will want to keep the contents of the box and the plants will pull through so I don't think I'd pursue it.
