I love this one! I've just been admiring it on a vendor's website trying to talk myself out of buying yet another orchid! And then this turns up :) So it sounds like a good one to have?? Did you buy it from a Canadian vendor? Any special needs for it? Beautiful photos by the way.

I got it from a small Vendor from Vancouver-this Lady usally comes to sell at the Shows around here. I am very happy with this one. But i dont know how your Set-up is. I grow it under Light by East Window and here comes the kicker- in SPAG.I guess the Lights from the Shelf underneath keeps it warm and makes it dry out in Time.It really loves the Spag-i dont know why. I water once a Week when it gets warm and in Winter every 2 Weeks. I have it for 4 Years now i need to re-pot soon-its growing almost over the Edge of the Pot-but i am really scared to re-pot. Because with me something always goes wrong and i would hate to have something happen to this one-i love this one a lot. I forgot-it's also in a Clay Pot |
Thanks for the info. I grow my Laelia tenebrosa in sphag in a clay pot and it thrives! So I know what you mean. Good luck with re-potting. I would wait till you see new roots developing.

That's the trouble - it's making new Roots allready and the next growth is starting again all while its blooming-so i guess i will -MAYBE-re-pot after the blooms are gone-or leave it for next Spring  I am such a Chicken. Last Time i just potted it up-all in a bigger Pot-so there was no trouble-but i think this Time it will need fresh Spag and that means disturbing all the roots to get the old stuff out.... Oh well-i need to do it. |
This is a delightful flower, Monika!
It looks yummy like a wedding cake décor. Such a happy healthy plant with the correct shade of green clean unblemished leaves; meaning you are giving it proper light with the robust roots trying to get out of the pot. |

Just wish all of my Orchids look that nice-i had trouble with one of them-had to cut off a leaf-i put Cinnamon on the cut and did not noticed some fell on a leaf of a plant below-now i got 2 holes burned on the Leafs of that orchid :) |
next time use cinnamon paste by adding a bit of water to the powder
the powder is tricky to use by itself. |
