Hey guys...

This state park is 10 minutes from my house in Durham, NC. I was lucky enough to get directions to a rare site that supports a colony of Small Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum var. parviflorum)! They are much less common than the Large Yellow Lady's Slipper which grows in the mountains of NC. I happened to catch them in full bloom today and it was AWESOME! I counted 14 blooms total, on maybe 20 plants. Each flower is different, and one spike even held 2 blooms! I'll NEVER forget this... what a treat! :biggrin:

Very cool, Elliot, thanks for sharing! I've never seen this species in the wild, if I have any time this weekend maybe I'll tromp around in some likely forests around here.

So neat to see! I'm hoping to see some native cyps in the wild this spring.

You are right, it looks like the OB logo.
