New Phal Spikes in May???

:hello everybody, I have 3 Phalaenopsis plants that my husband gave me on Valentines Day, 2012. I had no idea how to grow them so I turned to the internet and thankfully found all of y'all. I have learned a great deal and now have a question. A little background first. All 3 plants are healthy and I learned this morning that they are NOIDS. All 3 sucessfully bloomed in early December 2012 and I was thrilled. Their blooms did not begin to fall until mid April. All 3 spikes are alive and well and one plant still has 2 healthy flowers left. I went on vacation for six days and returned to a brand new spike on each plant. The 3rd plant even has a new spike (branch) about 2" long coming from the curve in the current flowering spike. My question is .... I know Summer is coming, which is the growing season. If I allow the spikes to continue and bloom throughout the Summer, will this extra energy going to the blooms keep the plant from further maturing during the growth season? Two of the 3 Phals are young and one of the 2 has a small root system but all are healthy.

I live on a boat and am currently in North Florida where we have had a very cool Spring which is why I'm sure they are spiking again. So, the delima is ... should I snip the spikes to allow the plants to mature during the Summer or should I let them spike and bloom again? All opinions are welcome, as I am hear to learn all I can to keep my Pahls healthy

If my phals want to bloom, I let them bloom. I have noid phals that bloom multiple times during the year and some grow and bloom, almost without stopping. I always have a phal hybrid in bloom during every month of the year.

If the plants are healthy then I would leave them. I've had phals flower and grow leaves and roots at the same time and if it wants to flower then let it. If I was unsure of the health I might snip them, but on healthy plants I just let them do what they want.

I agree, if they want to bloom, let them bloom. Enjoy.

.....and good growing ! they wouldn't bloom if conditions weren't right.

I'm sure they're more than healthy enough to deal with that. I live in Central FL and my phals go nuts most of the year because of the weather.

I thank all of you so much for your replies. Looks like I'm going to have a Summer full of blooms. I will post pics!
