I got these guys this last past Friday at nursery, and leaves are kind of light green and a few of them are splitting at the ends. and the rots look like a gray color and they are hard and really day. But it is how I got these 2 guys. I really like them and I want to give the best care as I can, I also live in the state of Kansas. Plzs let me know what you think...

that is an example of a Vanda healthy root....it is still aclimatizing to your environment.... spray it in the morning and then early afternoon....once a week drench it in the sink with water before you give it fertilizer....you will soon find a watering and fertilizer regimen for it....just trust your instincts
if you have a chance this warmer months to put it outdoors under shaded bright light it will glory on the warmth and humidity of your atmosphere=but do not let it feel frost; get it indoors if it gets in the 50's *light green leaves means it was given proper lighting.... darker leaves means it needs more light.... ---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:34 PM ---------- the splitting of the edge of the leaves is a moisture issue. It will love the warm steam coming from the bathroom shower....but be careful some bathrooms get very dry at night |
leaves moisture issue? how much should I water it to get the leaves back? Thanks for the fast reply

Is this the same plant from your other post?
Your leaves won't repair itself but do as Bud suggests and it will stop from getting worse. If the splits are sealed, its good. It really depends on what leaf splits looks like, a photo will help us determine how to advise. You can apply first aid hydrogen peroxide as general treatment to stave off infections. If they are still open/raw, yellowing, wipe with Isopropyl rubbing alcohol and dust open areas with ground cinnamon (do not get cinnamon on the roots!). If the wound is black and spreading, you need to remove the tissue (into healthy tissue) with a sterile blade and wipe and dust. |
