Laelia anceps? Laelia, I'm pretty sure

Hi everyone.

I'm pretty sure this is a Laelia given the form of the spike. I also suspect it's anceps from images I've viewed. I have a bunch of them and they came as part of a collection that included at least one other species Laelia. The spike on this is nowhere as long as superbiens. I can measure it tomorrow if it will help. At most I'd say it'd be 30 cm to the first flower.

Anyone with any suggestions?

Oh, it seems to be slightly perfumed. At least when I stuck my nose in it this morning.

Cheers,
Aus.

Laelia anceps would be my guess with the shape and tall flower spike. It's very nice.

Based on the shape of the lip, I believe this is a hybrid of L. anceps. The lip seems to show the influence of Gur. bowringiana (Laelianthe Wrigleyi) or Gur. skinneri (Laelianthe cielito).

Lovely flowers. To me its more likely an hybrid with anceps parentage.

This was my thought as well.

I concur with Euplusia. I also think it is a Laelia Anceps hybrid.

I concur with what Msaar said.

Hi all.

While looking for another ID, I came across this:

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...a-sawyeri.html

It looks strikingly similar, though there are some differences. Perhaps laelia was wrong. Any additional thoughts?

Cheers,
Aus.

I looked at the other post which looks exactly like your flower; neither looks like the photo of Schomburgkia sawyeri in the IOSPE. IOSPE PHOTOS I still can't tell you what it is, though.

That image you linked to is not a schom. sawyeri. It may be a hybrid thereof, but likely it also is a laelia anceps hybrid. Laelia and Schomburgkia are quite closely related, but schomburgkias have distinctively keeled lips, which this plant lacks, as does the one on the other post you linked to.

EDIT: Here is an image of S. sawyeri I found: http://forum.theorchidsource.com/gal...edium/3311.jpg

Not the distinct lobing and keels in the lip.
