catasetum naso, last season it gave me a hermaphrodite with more male characteristic but not a 100% male and many many many hermaphrodite and females before this. this season, i am in luck. male flowers

Lovely flowers.
I am glad that you have male flowers....although I still don't know how to distinguish the male from the female much less a hermaphrodite.

Very nice. Thank you Ian. Here Ctsm. sanguineum and naso are the ones that form female flowers more often than any other species.

thanks for the info, no wonder i kept getting more hermaphrodites than male though i am keeping them at shaded area. initially i thought i was over feeding them ;)

that's simple, any female that is not purely green with heavy coloration, with pointy beak anthers or having those long trigger pollina are characteristic of hermaphrodites. sometimes supination of the flower may tell as well especially for those resupinated male flowers
