St. Swithin budding.
Got it last March as blooming sized. After a year, most of which was spent in depressing fight with mites on this plant and many other paphs, it started a bud:

Humidity is around 30%, will the bud survive? Ezil, you had the plant of the same size, did yours bloom? |
Congrats!

You are in for a treat! Saint Swithin is beautiful. In my experience, you only see bud blast when there is a change in the environment. If it's throwing a spike at 30% RH, there's no reason it won't get to the bloom. Just keep it away from hot and cold drafts.

Thanks, I feel better now. Hopefully we will turn the heat off very soon, it should help with humidity.
Can't wait for bloom. |
Two weeks went by and the bud is still there, although it seems pretty small and there is just one actual head.
I was expecting couple since it is a multifloral paph after all. Oh, well, I still cannot believe that it spiked in the first place! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vBIF_fgoEm...ITHIN_BUD2.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EoJvyVqtlA...WITHIN_BUD.jpg |
I'm looking forward to seeing it in bloom! I have a seedling of this.
